Newquay Town Council
Newquay Town Council is Newquay’s most local level of government. It has an important role in promoting the town, representing its interests and supporting the work of different groups in the community.
Newquay Town Council consists of 20 elected and unpaid Councillors who represent different areas of Newquay. Members are fundamental in making decisions that relate to the town, its residents and its visitors. Officers of the council are crucial in implementing and ensuring that those decisions are then carried out.
Newquay Town Council is responsible for local services including toilets, footpaths, the Library, the tourist information, and more.
Cornwall Council
Cornwall Council is the unitary authority for the county of Cornwall, created on 1st April 2009 by merging Cornwall County Council with the six Borough and District Councils of Cornwall – Caradon, Carrick, Kerrier, North Cornwall, Restormel and Penwith.
Cornwall Council provides a wide range of services to more than half a million Cornish residents. In 2014 it had an annual budget of more than £1 billion and was the biggest employer in Cornwall with a staff of 12,429 salaried workers.

Cornwall Council are responsible for refuse and recycling collections across Cornwall. If there is a bin you’ve seen that needs emptying you should report it to Cornwall Council.
However, Newquay Town Council are responsible for some bins in Newquay. These are emptied by Biffa who are under contract with us. To report one of our bins, please contact Biffa. If you’re unsure who owns the bin in question, there should be a sign on every bin to inform you how to report it. If there isn’t, please don’t hesitate to contact us for assistance.
