Jubilee Beacon Lighting at the Huers Hut
We will celebrate another unique milestone in our history, Her Majesty The Queen’s 70th year as our Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth – her Platinum Jubilee. It is a feat no previous monarch has achieved. More than 2,022 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries in recognition of The Queen’s long and selfless service. The beacons will enable local communities, individuals and organisations to pay tribute to The Queen.
2:00pm Town Centre – Town Crier to undertake the Proclamation announcing the lighting of the beacon that evening.
8:00pm Concert performance – Newquay Male Voice Choir
9:35pm Pipers perform ‘Diu Regnare’ – Nigel Warmington
9:40pm Buglers and cornet players to play ‘Majesty’ – Newquay Town Band
9:45pm Town crier to announce lighting of beacon.
9:45pm Song for Commonwealth
9:45pm Lighting of the beacon, to be lit by the Mayor of Newquay (Margaret North)
